MARTIN LUTHER KING
Martin Luther King advanced civil rights for black people, and other minorities, in the United States using nonviolence tactics against racism and the terrorism of Jim Crow laws. The civil rights movement achieved pivotal legislative gains in the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Voting Rights Act of 1965, and the Fair Housing Act of 1968. During the movement, King was harassed and targeted by J. Edgar Hoover and the FBI, and was later assassinated in Memphis of 1968.
King captured speaking on September 10, 1963 in New York.
